Conveyancing Paralegal

We currently have a vacancy within our Wick office for a paralegal to join our conveyancing team.

The successful candidate will assist the solicitors within the office in carrying out residential conveyancing transactions and therefore the ability to work with a high level of detail and to strict deadlines is essential. The key responsibilities include paper and digital file management, assisting with drafting conveyancing documents, corresponding with clients by e-mail, telephone and letter, requesting client funds, dealing with lenders, calculating cash statements and preparing accounting entries, completing registration formalities with Registers of Scotland, diary management and scheduling meetings. Some form of legal background is preferred. English and Maths at higher level (or equivalent or higher level qualification) required. The ideal candidate will have good organisation skills, the ability to prioritise workload and the ability to meet strict deadlines. They will also have an excellent level of communication skills and good time management. Previous experience in a law firm is desirable.

Trainee Solicitor: Wick Office: Immediate Start

BBM Solicitors are a boutique practice recommended by Chambers and Legal 500.  Best known for their insolvency, restructuring and litigation practice, the firm also has a well-regarded property offering, and growing private client list. We operate from offices in Wick, Caithness and Edinburgh City Centre.

We invite applications for a two-year training contract based in our Wick office.  It is envisaged that up to eighteen months of the training contract will be spent working primarily in our property, corporate and private client practice.  We anticipate that at least six months of the second year will be spent working in our litigation and insolvency practice.  There may be the possibility that part of the contract is spent in our Edinburgh office.

Legal Secretary/Office Junior

BBM are a Wick headquartered law firm specialising in Litigation, Insolvency, Commercial Law and Property Law.  One of our excellent Legal Secretaries is leaving the Firm to pursue an exciting new opportunity.  That leaves a vacancy in our Wick-based administration team for a full-time Legal Secretary or Office Junior (willing to train to become a Legal Secretary).

Absolute discretion and confidentiality are essential for the role together with an excellent work ethic, IT skills and good written and spoken English.  The role will involve significant amounts of audio typing, diary management and general administration support to our solicitors.  You will also be required to post mail daily, assist with banking and deliver court documents when requested.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm with an hour break for lunch.  A full UK driving licence is required.
